Abstract

ABSTRACT: The stagnation of the development, poverty, and environmental deterioration are the three major problems of the world. China's poverty problem is centred on rural areas. Inclusive growth was first proposed by the Asian Development Bank in 2007. Many scholars investigated the connotation and measurement of such growth. However, the attention devoted to the inclusive growth of rural areas in China is still lacking. The objective of this study is to construct an indicator system that measures the inclusive growth of these areas from 2004 to 2017 in four aspects, namely, economic growth, social equity, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure. The entropy weight and TOPSIS methods are used to evaluate the inclusive growth of rural areas in China. Results show that the inclusive growth index in rural China is steadily rising, and infrastructure has a significant effect on inclusive growth.
