- Abstract: During the study of Sinian-Cambrian system gas reservoirs in the middle paleo-uplift of Sichuan Basin, some wells of Longwangmiao formation in Moxi area had yellow fluorescent organic matter in thin sections under core-mirror was found. Based on the core observation and dissolution experiments, the characteristics of the biomarkers of saturated hydrocarbons under different conditions were determined by saturated hydrocarbon chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results show that the organic matter observed in the thin section under core-mirror is not the crude oil formed by multi-period accumulation, but polluted by oily substances in the drilling fluid during the drilling process. The presence of pollutants will affect the recovery of crude oil. Therefore, this study uses geochemical methods to identify the pollutants in the core and improve the recovery of crude oil.
