Abstract

Abstract : Purpose: To report an association between a Stage 4 full-thickness macular hole and focal choroidal excavation. Methods: Case report. Results: A 46-year-old male patient with high myopia was referred for macular hole surgery and found to have an associated focal choroidal excavation. The patient underwent uneventful combined procedure with closure of macular hole. Conclusion: Successful macular hole surgery can be achieved even in the presence of focal choroidal excavation. Abstract : The authors present the first reported association between a Stage 4 full-thickness macular hole and a focal choroidal excavation in a patient with high myopia and our assessment and surgical treatment of the case. Literature review about the choroidal excavation was illustrated. Postoperatively, there was a closure of the macular hole without subfoveal fluid.
