Abstract

Abstract: To meet customers' demand for individualized products of high quality the producers are forced to digitalize their manufacturing processes. The Digital Twin represents the processes and resources digitally and is a key factor for efficiency of manufacturing. Nevertheless, the characteristics and abilities of the Digital Twin depend on its represented product and the applications, so development and implementation of Digital Twins is influenced by these parameters. To avoid unnecessary effort on identification of Digital Twin's use cases a product independent description of use cases is introduced in order to enable additional usage of former research results. This reduces time and increases quality of the development. Furthermore, the collection of several product independent description of use cases forms a collection of templates for Digital Twins' applications.
