- Abstract : Sustainable Chemistry The cover image for article number 2100391 by Siegfried R. Waldvogel and co‐workers represents a method to obtain selectively 5‐iodovanillin, as an advanced building block, from side‐stream lignins by degradation using electrochemically generated periodate. In times of climate changes the utilization of lignin as renewable feedstock for fine chemicals is considered, and would rival petroleum refining.
