- Highlights: OPFCST is proposed to adaptively determine the length and coefficient of Gaussian window and its principle is demonstrated. Using OPFCST and improved ATO, a new RDC method is proposed, which has advantages in noise robustness. The proposed method is implemented by DSP system, and the real-time performance in the actual system is verified. Abstract: A noise-robust resolver-to-digital conversion (RDC)method using optimal principal-frequency-component S-transform (OPFCST) and improved angle-tracking-observer (ATO) is proposed in this paper. The modulus envelopes of resolver signals are extracted by OPFCST to achieve the best compromise between accuracy and realization. The complete envelopes are obtained by polarity judgment rule and they are calculated by the improved ATO algorithm to obtain the rotation angle of the resolver. Simulation results show that the OPFCST-based RDC method can achieve a good compromise between computational efficiency and accuracy by using Z value, and it has better noise-robust performance compared with other methods. The maximum decoding error is<4e-4° without noise, and the maximum decoding error can be close to 1° under the strong noise level with SNR of 20 dB. Experiments show that the proposed method can be run on DSP chip in real time, so it can be applied in practical system.
