- Abstract: PCM (Phase changing materials) have more implemented in construction and building interiors for improving temperature controls, minimize the heat and cooling load. The phenomenal change from a substantial phase to a dissolvable phase and vice versa is used to store and release the heat. From this perspective, this article focuses on the alternative solutions to light upon the energy demand and to minimize the unfavorable ambient effect by using PCM with building components like bricks, walls, and wallboards as a layer or use it as thermal energy storage (TES) to minimize energy usage to achieve thermal comfort and improve building thermal performance. Besides, highlights the paper covers the aeration system and passive heating, to active system, & cooling systems, to let them in practice with limited alterations in construction to the original design. The articles for this paper was mainly chosen from the year 2010 to 2020.
