Abstract

ABSTRACT: The UN Human Rights Council has reviewed the human rights conditions of Ethiopia three times. In all cycles of review, Ethiopia has received many recommendations in relation to gender-based violence and harmful traditional practices. Accordingly, Ethiopia has accepted most of the recommendations and been implementing the accepted recommendations on gender-based violence. The purpose of this article is therefore to review the measures taken to implement accepted recommendations on gender-based violence. It also aims at exploring the successes and challenges of implementation of the recommendations.
