Abstract: Organoids are 3D stem cell-derived self-organization of cells. Organoid bioengineering helps recreate and tailor their architecture in vitro to generate mini organ-like properties, providing the opportunity to study fundamental cell behavior in heterogeneous populations and as a tool to model various diseases. Nanomaterials (NMs) are becoming indispensable in regenerative medicine and in developing treatment modalities for various diseases. Therefore, organoid–NM interactions are set to gain traction for the development of advanced diagnostics and therapeutics. Here, we discuss the interactions of NMs with distinctive organoid types, organoid matrices, trafficking and cargo delivery, organs-on-a-chip, bioprinting, downstream therapeutic implications, and future approaches.
