- Abstract: Polymeric graphitic carbon nitride (g‐C3 N4 ) supported CuBr2 hybrid material (CuBr2 @g‐C3 N4 ) was developed by impregnation of CuBr2 on g‐C3 N4 sheets. The morphology and physiochemical properties were analyzed by powder XRD, SEM, and HRTEM studies. The hybrid CuBr2 @g‐C3 N4 material showed excellent selectivity in the aerobic oxidation of primary/secondary alcohols and benzoins to the corresponding carbonyl compounds in absence of any oxidizing agents. Further, CuBr2 @g‐C3 N4 demonstrated direct oxidation of toluene derivatives to corresponding aldehydes in excellent yields. The g‐C3 N4 support provides excellent stability and heterogeneity to CuBr2 and was recovered simply by filtration and reused for ten times without appreciable loss in catalytic activity. Abstract : Efficient aerobic oxidation of primary/secondary alcohols and toluene derivatives has been demonstrated using CuBr2 @g‐C3 N4 as reusable catalyst.
