- Abstract : (Abstracted from Lancet Glob Health 2021;9:e1119–e1128) Hypertension in pregnancy (HIP) has served as a marker for increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes, including fetal growth restriction, stillbirth, severe maternal morbidity, and maternal mortality. Traditionally, HIP has been defined as systolic blood pressure (sBP) of ≥140 mm Hg, diastolic BP (dBP) of ≥90 mm Hg, or both.
