Abstract

Abstract: Phytochemical investigation of the stems and leaves of Physalis pubescens resulted in the isolation of ten compounds, including a new phenylpropanoid amide N 1 -( Z )- N 6 -( Z )-di- p -coumaroylputrescine (1 ) and nine known analogues (2 –10 ). Their structures were identified using extensive spectroscopic analyses (UV, NMR, HR-ESIMS). Compounds 1 –4 and 9 –10 were reported from the genus Physalis for the first time. The chemotaxonomic significance of the isolates was also discussed.
