Abstract

Abstract: Three new monoterpenoid indole alkaloids, gelsevietmines-A, B, C (1 –3 ), were isolated from Gelsemium elegans seeds collected in Vietnam. Their unique and highly oxidized structures were determined by spectroscopic analyses and chemical means including the asymmetric total synthesis of gelsevietmine-A (1 ).
