- Abstract: This study presents cyclic performance of a new bracing scheme using circular or elliptic bracing elements named OGrid for damage mitigation in structures subjected to earthquake excitations. To evaluate the seismic properties of this bracing system, an experimental analysis was performed on the OGrid bracing frame subjected to cyclic loading. Results showed that this bracing system has stable hysteretic behavior, a good range of ductility and high-energy dissipation capability. Because of the geometry of the proposed system, buckling has been not occurred and consequently, reduction of energy dissipation capacity has been not observed. Moreover, due to the high degree of indeterminacy of the proposed system, it showed appropriate stiffness after the formation of plastic hinges.
