- Abstract : At the start of the pandemic, Zoom's fortunes as the videoconferencing platform of choice for remote working suffered a setback when, having failed to adequately secure its software, hackers were able to crash meetings by 'Zoombombing'. This has proved an expensive mistake. In August 2021, the company settled a related lawsuit to the tune of $85m. 1 Indeed, there are rumoured to be more than 30, 000 website exploits every day, yet according to WatchGuard, at least 20% of the Alexa Top 100, 000 websites still don't use any encryption, leaving the door wide open to attacks. 2–4
