- Abstract: Hollow core@shell TiO2 @CdS composite was synthesized via facile and controlled homogeneous precipitation method, the as-prepared samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, FTIR, EDS UV–vis adsorption, and BJH. The results of the photocatalytic experiment demonstrated the TiO2 /CdS hybrid with Ti/Cd molar ratio of 1:2 (denoted as T/2C) possesses the highest photocatalytic activity, the degradation rate of T/2C towards methyl orange (MO) is 78% and 80% under simulated UV light and sun light, respectively. Additionally, T/2C also presents photocatalytic performance on H2 production (114.375 µmol/h g). Based on the experiment results, a probable charger transfer mechanism of T/2C was proposed. In view of the unique hollow structure and high photocatalytic characteristics, it is looking forward to exhibit great potential for applications in wastewater treatment and H2 evolution.
