- Graphical abstract: Abstract: SBA15-supported ruthenium nanoparticles were prepared and employed as catalytic system for the oxidative cleavage of olefins under flow conditions. Design of experiments was adopted to optimize the reaction parameters and was instrumental to develop a fast and robust method for producing aldehydes from alkenes. Utilizing a simple flow set-up, the process provided high conversions in only few minutes with 0.5% mol of ruthenium under mild reaction conditions and high flow rates.
