Abstract

Abstract : The Cover Feature shows the experimental and theoretical approach to the synthesis of polysubstituted furans, prevalent structural motifs in natural products, bioactive compounds or functional organic materials. A methodological study has shown that potassium tert ‐butoxide promotes the oxacyclization of Z ‐enynols leading to a variety of di‐, tri‐, and tetra‐substituted furans. At the same time, the analysis of natural populations by DFT calculations made it possible to rationalize the feasibility of this reaction.
