Abstract

Abstract: The performance evaluation of scientific research institutions is significant to the development of universities. It can improve the needs of universities' own competitiveness, and keep the overall development of universities on a healthy track. In this paper, the production efficiency of research laboratories is evaluated by the combination of ecological theory and network data envelopment analysis (DEA). Firstly, a model of an evaluation system for research laboratories, which innovatively combined ecological theory with DEA, is proposed. Secondly, A case of 10 research bases were studied. Finally, the results show that the proposed evaluation method can efficiently improve the evaluation efficiency of scientific research bases by optimize their different parameter. The results also show that the scientific research bases institutions can be ranked by the proposed complete ranking model. Highlights: A mathematical model for evaluation systems based on the TOPSIS method is proposed. The scientific research ecological theory and DEA are combined for case analysis. Scientific research institutions are ranked and their efficiency are optimized and analyzed.
