- Abstract: This paper proposes a Fuzzy Sampled-data H ∞ Sliding-mode Control (FSHSC) method for Active Hysteretic Suspension (AHS) of commercial vehicles considering actuator-disturbance to improve suspension performance. The hysteresis of leaf spring is formulated by Bouc–Wen (BW) model, which is validated by comparing with experiment data. The nonlinear hysteresis of AHS is linearized using the Takagi–Sugeno (TS) fuzzy method, and the sampled-data system is dealt with input-delay approach. Moreover, the sliding-mode control method is applied with sampled-data mechanism to cope with actuator-disturbance, and the system asymptotical stability condition with the H ∞ performance is established by using the improved Lyapunov function to achieve the FSHSC design. The performance of FSHSC method is investigated including the effect of road condition, magnitude of actuator-disturbance and sampling time interval. The results demonstrate that AHS with FSHSC method is superior to the other suspensions in both robustness and effectiveness, especially in the presence of significant actuator-disturbance. Highlights: Experimental validation of the Bouc–Wen model for the hysteresis of leaf spring. Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy method for linearization of the nonlinear hysteresis. The actuator-disturbance appeared in the sampled-data system is considered. AHS-FSHSC improves the performance of suspension with actuator-disturbance.
