- Abstract : Polymerization techniques such as suspension, mini‐emulsion, dispersion, and precipitation polymerization produce LC polymer particles of various sizes, LC phases, and molecular alignments, and hence should be used in accordance with the targeted properties. The particles have found applications as rotors, absorbents, cell scaffolds, reflectors, actuators, and drug carriers. Although usually "homogeneous", LC polymer particles with distinctive chemical domains or complex physical structures could bring more functionality.
