- Abstract: This research presents a nonlinear transient analysis of porous functionally graded material (FGM) plates subjected to a step blast loading using the finite element method approach. A C0 formulation has been established by implementing a first-order displacement field with an eight-noded isoparametric element. The governing differential equations have been derived using total lagrangian formulation. Subsequently, Newmark-Beta scheme along with the modified Newton-Raphson iterative method has been employed to obtain the solution of the resultant governing differential equation. The results obtained from the present FEM model are compared with the benchmark solutions from the available literature. The effect of parameters such as power index, porosity parameter and side-to-thickness ratio on the transient response of FGM plate is investigated under step blast load.
