Abstract

Highlights: The debilitating nature of schizophrenia as well as numerous troublesome clinical symptoms aggravate suffering, affecting the higher suicide rate in this group. There is a scarce data on relation between structural alterations and suicidal risk in schizophrenia. The results showed the link between both suicidal risk and mental pain, and altered cortical folding in the brain areas localized mainly in fronto-parietal regions Compared with FreeSurfer, Cmorph approach showed much more morphologically precise results related to both constructs. Both indexes pointed mainly on the left hemisphere, which stands as a proof of asymmetry of cortical alterations related to suicidal risk and mental pain.
