- Graphical abstract: A new hms -type metal-organic framework, namely {[Ca3 (NTB)2 (H2 O)2 ]·NMF·4NMP·4H2 O}n (Ca-MOF), with microporous channels constructed by Ca(II) ions and triphenylamine-based carboxylate ligand was successfully synthesized under solvothermal condition. Ca-MOF exhibits selectivity for C2 hydrocarbons and CO2 over CH4 . Abstract: A hms -type microporous metal-organic framework, {[Ca3 (NTB)2 (H2 O)2 ]·NMF·4NMP·4H2 O}n (Ca-MOF, H3 NTB = 4, 4′, 4″-nitrilotrisbenzoic acid, NMF = N -methyl formamide, NMP = N -methyl-2-pyrrolidone), was solvothermal synthesized. Desolvated Ca-MOF shows relatively high C2 hydrocarbons and CO2 storage capacity at 298 K and 1 atm (C2 H2 : 107.0 cm 3 g −1, C2 H4 : 79.0 cm 3 g −1, C2 H6 : 99.2 cm 3 g −1, CO2 : 65.9 cm 3 g −1 ), and a lower CH4 adsorption uptake (14.6 cm 3 g −1 ). Its ideal adsorbed solution theory (IAST)-predicted selectivities of C2 hydrocarbons and CO2 over CH4 range from 5.7 to 10.0 at room temperature, indicating its potential for separation of C2 hydrocarbons and CO2 from CH4 .
