- Abstract : Background and purpose: WEBCAST is a European study dedicated to the evaluation of the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of endovascular treatment with WEB of intracranial aneurysms. Materials and methods: The study was conducted in 10 European centers. Inclusion criteria were aneurysms located at internal carotid artery bifurcation, middle cerebral artery, basilar artery, and anterior communicating artery with a neck ≥4 mm and a dome to neck ratio ≥ 1. Recanalized aneurysms were not included. Complications and safety data were independently evaluated. Aneurysm occlusion was evaluated at 6 months with DSA by an independent core lab. Aneurysm occlusion was evaluated stable at 6 months in case of complete occlusion, no modification or improvement of the occlusion (versus post-operative occlusion), and no retreatment was performed or foreseen. Results: Fifty-one patients (36 females and 15 males) with 51 aneurysms were included between December 2011 and February 2014. Age was between 33 and 75 years (55.6 ± 1.5 years). Forty-eight aneurysms were unruptured and 3 ruptured. Aneurysm location was middle cerebral artery (28 aneurysms), basilar artery (12 aneurysms) internal carotid artery (6 aneurysms), and anterior communicating (5 aneurysms). The feasibility, safety, and efficacy of the treatment is analyzed. Conclusion: WEBCAST is the first prospective, multicenter trial evaluating the treatment of intracranial aneurysms with WEB Aneurysm Embolization System.Abstract : Background and purpose: WEBCAST is a European study dedicated to the evaluation of the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of endovascular treatment with WEB of intracranial aneurysms.
