- Abstract: In this study, graphite felt was treated with ammonia, and graphene was prepared from graphene oxide by the Hummers method. The as-obtained graphene oxide and graphene-modified graphite felt were then utilized as anode materials in all vanadium liquid flow batteries. The surface morphologies and electrochemical properties of the composite electrode materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transforms infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and charge–discharge experiments. The results showed improvement in charge–discharge performances of composite electrode materials prepared from graphite oxide and graphene-modified graphite felt. The current efficiencies of the graphene oxide/graphite felt and graphene/graphite felt composite electrodes at the current density of 30 mA/cm 2 reached above 96%.
