- Abstract : Introduction: In the light of the evolving Covid-19 pandemic, we identified a need to educationally support multiprofessional staff through the critical changes to their daily practice. Key learning requirements were the safe donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and changes to the management of a cardiac arrest. Prior to the current pandemic, research suggested there was a specific lack of education around the use of PPE. Methods: We developed a 45–60 minute simulation-based training session open to all clinical staff to address these learning needs (figure 1 ). It was updated in real time in line with evolving local Trust, Public Health England (PHE) and Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) guidance. After the session Trust approved information leaflets were provided summarising the key information covered. Results: To date 140 simulation sessions have been run with 679 staff members trained. The immediate post-session feedback was extremely positive: over 97% of learners agreed that the simulation met all of the evaluation criteria. At the 2–4 week follow up 77% of learners said that the training had changed their clinical practice. Conclusion: These sessions were designed as a fast response to local need.
