Abstract

Abstract: The very strong Lewis acid aluminium chlorofluoride (ACF) was loaded with anhydrous HF. The interaction between the surface of the catalyst and HF was investigated using a variety of characterization methods, which revealed the formation of polyfluorides. Moreover, the reactivity of the HF‐loaded ACF towards the hydrofluorination of alkynes was studied. Abstract : HF loaded : A variety of characterization methods, such as MAS NMR spectroscopy, XRD, FTIR, INS, and surface analysis methods, were used to investigate the interaction of HF with the surface of the nanoscopic Lewis acidic aluminium chlorofluoride (ACF). The studies revealed the formation of polyfluorides at the surface of ACF, as well as a slight reorganization of the bulk and a decrease in the acidity. The material was tested in the hydrofluorination of alkynes and showed good results in hydrofluorination.
