Abstract

Abstract : The chest radiograph is the most frequently performed imaging in radiology and by including the heart and central vessels can suggest the presence of cardiovascular disease. Dual-energy subtraction radiography of the chest provides improved detection of a wide variety of cardiovascular pathologies including coronary artery disease, valvular pathologies, and pericardial disease given the presence of calcification in many subtypes of these diseases. We review the principles of dual-energy subtraction radiography and demonstrate its added value in the assessment of cardiovascular disease.
