Abstract

Abstract : Seven‐day old chick hindlimbs (wild‐type on the left, talpid2 on the right), stained for nuclei in blue (DAPI) and osteochondroprogenitors in yellow (Sox9). The increase in the number and identity of the digits in the talpid2 mutant, which were among Dr. Fallon's favorite subject of study, provides an important window into understanding how pattern and form arise in development and in evolution.
