- Abstract : Nomifensine (Merital - Hoechst) has been regarded as a safer alternative to the tricyclic antidepressives because it has few anticholinergic and sedative effects. 1 However it has recently become clear that it can cause serious adverse reactions not seen with other antidepressives.
