- Abstract:
- Abstract : In normal micturition autonomic cholinergic nerves initiate detrusor muscle contraction, which is followed by relaxation of the urinary sphincter. Involuntary detrusor contractions can occur in neurological disease; 'detrusor instability' describes involuntary contractions where there is no underlying neurological cause. Symptoms of detrusor instability are urinary frequency, urgency and sometimes incontinence. Terodiline (Terolin - KabiVitrum) and oxybutynin are two of the newer drugs being used in its management.
