- Abstract: Underwater bubble is becoming increasingly significant for the related devices because of its high heat transfer efficiency and acoustic signals, especially under ocean conditions. This work proposes a numerical simulation method to investigate the effects of rolling conditions on the bubble detachment surface area and acoustic characteristics. First, the spatial distribution of bubble oscillation amplitude under rolling conditions was investigated. An acoustic pressure peak occurs during the bubble detaches from the nozzle and the acoustic source appears above the main bubble. The amplitude of acoustic pressure attenuates from the acoustic source to all around. Besides, the effects of rolling conditions on the bubble detachment surface area and oscillation amplitude were analyzed. Under different rolling conditions, the oscillation amplitude and the detachment surface area of the bubble periodically change in the same trend, and the period is half of the rolling period. Finally, a correlation was put forward for fitting the amplitude of bubble oscillation frequency under rolling conditions, with most deviations less than ±13.2%. Highlights: The amplitude of bubble oscillation frequency exhibited periodic changes. Bubble oscillation frequency amplitude increased as bubble detachment surface area. A formula was used to obtain bubble oscillation frequency amplitude under rolling condition.
