Abstract

Highlights: Primary plasma cell leukemia (pPCL) is a rare and aggressive malignancy with a distinct clinical presentation compared to multiple myeloma. pPCL has preponderances to specific primary cytogenetic abnormalities such as t (11;14) as well as other high risk cytogenetic features. Achieving a deep and sustained response is an ideal goal for improved outcomes in this aggressive malignancy. Future clinical trials incorporating novel small molecule inhibitors and immunotherapeutic approaches into the treatment armamentarium are critical for improving the outcomes of patients with pPCL.
