- Abstract: Electromagnetic forming is a high-speed forming method, characterized by use of non-contact electromagnetic forces to achieve forming, welding, job shaping and sheet metal cutting. It is a high-strain rate forming process, with improved formability, significant ductility, reduced spring-back effect, less wrinkling and relatively high throughput. From the modelling and simulation perspective, the electromagnetic forming process is realized as a Multiphysics problem, involving electric and magnetic fields, coupled with structural field. In this paper, the quantization of material deformation of copper experimented under the electromagnetic forming is accounted by metallographic study of microstructure for the deformed copper alloy. Optical microscopy is employed to study the deformation of copper.
