- Abstract: Nowadays, microparts are finding applications in many products for increased functionalities. The application of Aluminum Metal matrix Composites (AMCs) expands to various fields such as automobile, aerospace, bio-medical and manufacturing industries. This article introduces the machinability study of aluminum 6061 metal matrix composites (MMCs) reinforced with Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) using electrochemical micro-machining (EMM). % of reinforcement, machining voltage (V), concentration of electrolyte (gm/lit) and duty cycle (%) were chosen as parameters and sodium nitrate (NaNO3 ) used as an electrolyte for the machining process. Experiments were conducted based on the varying one parameter at a time and effect of process parameters on material removal rate (MRR) and radial overcut (ROC) were studied. The circumference of the machined micro-hole in the AMCs using scanning electron microscope (SEM) image is analysed.
