Abstract

Abstract: In this work, study on the properties such as the modulus of rigidity and angle of twist on plastic material has been carried out. The preparation of specimen has been fabricated over lathe for desired dimensions and the experiments have been carried on torsion testing machine. Further, the variation of angle of twist of plastic rod with respect to applied torque has been studied, it is noticed that, the angle of twist increases with increase in applied torque and further increase in torque leads to fracture. Further, Fracture point is at applied torque of 172.80 Nm. The variation of modulus of rigidity of plastic rod with respect to applied torque has also been studied, it is observed that, the angle of twist increases rapidly initially with increase in applied torque and further gradual increase in torque leads to fracture. Further, Fracture point is at applied torque of160Nm.
