Abstract

Abstract : Rates of hydrogen and methane production were compared in caecal and faecal homogenates in six methane producers. Faecal homogenates produced hydrogen and methane in the absence of and after the addition of lactulose, whereas caecal homogenates produced hydrogen but little methane.
