- Abstract : Background: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting traditionally young male. AS frequently involves the axial skeleton, and can result in abnormal bone formation with eventual ankylosis of the spine, resulting in substantial disability and functional limitation. Female AS is known to be less severe than in male patients. Objectives: To compare of clinical, biological and radiological features in male and female patients with ankylosing spondylitis. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted in our department of Rheumatology that includes 165 patients (136 male/29 female) with ankylosing spondylitis according to the modified New York Criteria for AS. Clinical, biological and radiological data are collected. Results: Patients mean age were 38, 35±11 years [16-73]. Female were older than male patients (the mean age respectively 40/35 years). Comparison between male and female patients was displayed in table 1 . Conclusions: Clinical feature of AS were comparable in male and female patients. Only age of onset was earlier and HLA B27 was more frequent in male patients than in female. Disclosure of Interest: None Declared
