Abstract : Left, rituximab (anti‐CD20) causes the death of CD20‐expressing B cells, plasma blasts and newly developed, short‐lived plasma cells (SLPC) in lymph‐nodes and spleen by: (1) complement‐dependent cytotoxicity; (2) antibody‐dependent cellular cytotoxicity; (3) programmed cell death; (4) antibody‐dependent cellular phagocytosis; (5) ROS‐dependent, nonapoptotic cell death; (6) homotypic adhesion and lysosome‐mediated nonapoptotic cell death. Right, bendamustine targets (1) protein disulfide isomerase A3 and (2) cytokine‐induced apoptosis inhibitor‐1 induces thus apoptosis of long‐lived plasma cells (LLPC) in bone marrow.
