- Abstract : Although reactive oxygen species (ROS) function in guard cell signaling has been demonstrated, the control of ROS homeostasis remains elusive. Recent findings point to multiple mechanisms controlling ROS levels in guard cells. These mechanisms require secondary metabolism and autophagy, providing the guard cells with a degree of plasticity during stomatal movements.
