Abstract

Abstract: Hydrogen is clean and has much higher energy density than most other conventional fuels in terms of power to mass. Hydrogen can be produced from various biomass, either by biological or thermochemical methods. The present study examines various key aspects like substrate selection, pretreatment processes, influencing parameters on biohydrogen production as well as purification processes, it helps to understand various bottlenecks, challenges and constraints. The efforts that required for the industrial production of hydrogen from biomass and similarly provide a perspective on eventual development in the applied area for the sustainable hydrogen economy.
