While biosimilar insulin may be economically driven, it may also help towards narrowing the inequality gap around the provision of insulin, globally. Steve Chaplin investigates the characteristics of biosimilar insulins, their development and uptake, along with potential cost savings, their clinical utility, and whether or not switching to a biosimilar insulin will soon be the norm.
