- Abstract : The Front Cover shows the transformation of MXene 2D sheets into TiOF2, with the MXene‐retained 2D morphology, through direct fluorination using elemental fluorine. The 2D TiOF2, as a battery electrode, has superior electrochemical performance. Specifically, with increased rate capability due to the layered structure that would allow for better lithium mobility. The fluorination also results in the formation of CF2 and TiF3, which have beneficial electrochemical properties, probed on the surface. Overall, this process results in an electrode material that exhibits increased capacity and long cycling stability. This direct‐fluorination process, which allows for the formation of oxyfluorides, opens a new avenue for creating other novel 2D‐oxyfluoride materials that can enhance the energy‐storage capacity of batteries.
