- Abstract : The usual bowel habits of 259 school age children before the large outbreak of E coli O157 infection in Sakai City in the summer of 1996 were investigated. A daily morning movement and/or frequent bowel movements may be a protective factor against infection, while being constipated contributed to a worsening of symptoms.
