Abstract

Abstract : The front cover picture shows not only the hurdles to overcome but also the opportunities that arise from initiating with noncanonical amino acids. The initiating position opens possibilities for amino acids modified at the α‐amine to be incorporated into a protein, an achievement only possible at the first amino acid position. Designing a successful strategy through in vitro and in vivo methods poses unique challenges that have to be surmounted for successful translation.
