Abstract

In this paper, the principle of forming the spatial distribution of the potential in multipole three-dimensional ion traps of a general type is considered. A matrix method for describing the electric fields in ion traps for then th order of multipole is proposed. Typical electrode geometries for hexapole and octupole traps are considered.
