Abstract : Silica sulfuric acid nanoparticles have been prepared and shown to efficiently catalyse the reaction between an aromatic aldehyde or phenylglyoxal and a 4-hydroxycoumarin at reflux in EtOH to afford the biscoumarin derivatives in high yield.
