- Abstract: Atomic‐level understanding of supramolecular materials from self‐assembly of molecular building blocks is highly important for the design of functional biomaterials. Here, we have synthesized three compounds exploiting 4‐biphenyl carboxylic acid and L‐alanine, L‐leucine and L‐Phenylalanine. From FE‐SEM, the compounds show poly disperse microspheres morphology, sheet like morphology and nano rod‐like morphology. The single crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis shows that compounds containing alanine and leucine form duplex structures, whereas compound containing phenylalanine shows rod like assembly. Irrespective of N‐terminal 4‐biphenylcarboxy protection, the minor change in the amino acid side chain has significant effect on structure and morphology. Abstract : Atomic‐level understanding: Irrespective of N‐terminal 4‐biphenylcarboxy protection, the single crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis shows that compounds containing L‐alanine and l‐leucine form duplex structures, whereas compound containing L‐phenylalanine shows rod like structure.
