- Abstract : The cover figure shows how isopropanol forms a hydrogen bond with a silanol group at the surface of silica, thereby disrupting a hydrogen‐bonded network between surface silanol groups. Breaking up these silanol nests makes the surface more reactive towards vanadium oxytriisopropoxide, a commonly used precursor for the synthesis of supported vanadium catalysts. This leads to an increase in vanadium coverage without the formation of vanadium oxide particles, which are undesired for many reactions like the oxidative dehydrogenation of alkanes. This work completes an important puzzle on how vanadium species are immobilized on silica. More information can be found in the Full Paper by A. J. Rossini, I. Hermans, et al. on page 1052 .
